How to choose the schema edition of RDS for MySQL?

High-availability Edition

The high-availability edition means that the Mysql instance purchased by the user implements a dual-active hot-standby architecture. Both instances are hosts and synchronize data with each other

  1. High data security. Compared with a single machine, there is an extra backup machine dedicated to synchronizing data.
  2. Failover, in the dual-active and hot-standby architecture, when an instance is down or cannot be pulled up after repeated attempts, it will automatically switch to the slave to ensure high availability of the device.
  3. For fault repair, the Yisu cloud system will detect the instance in the fault, and regularly try various methods to pull up the down device.

RDS Basic Edition

The RDS Basic Edition means that the Mysql instance purchased by the user is connected to a single device

  1. Low cost, compared to the high-availability version, the cost of the stand-alone version will be lower
  2. There is no failover. Once the instance is down and cannot be pulled up after repeated attempts, the application will fail and report an error.
  3. Data security is low. Compared with the high-availability version, the instance backup files only exist in the current machine. Once the physical backup files are lost, they cannot be recovered.
  4. The stand-alone version does not have a bugfix function.
